November 2010 Nov2010 FukishimaNukePwrStation3Prior to the 2011 earth quake and tsunami in Japan UESI performed vital work at the Fukushima Daini site. The scope of work included cleaning (desludging), coatings inspection, VT 1 & 3 inspection, ISI (in service inspection), earthquake inspection assessment and removal of ECCS suction strainers, installation of caps/plugs and reinstallation of ECCS suction strainers and Final Swim Through in the Fukushima Unit’s 1 & 3. Nuclear units at the Daini site did not suffer the same fate as those at the Daiichi site. TEPCO hopes to one day restart the plants and UESI may return soon to continue inspections at the undamaged reactors.
